User tools on the popup menus

gsimard 8 years ago updated by Marc Strapetz 8 years ago 6

Provide a mechanism where the user could add their own actions in the list of actions on some popup menu.

Take this popup for example:

Open and Open File will both invoke the program associated with the file extension. I do not always want to open the full IDE for a file but simply edit (UltraEdit) or browse (V Fileviewer) or Zip or copy the file someplace else.

It would be nice to be able to add actions to the popup list.

In the Preferences, section "Tools" you can already configure tools. Isn't this what you are looking for?

That is awesome. I should have spent more time exploring the menus before posting this thread here.

However, there is still a missing popup choice that probably cannot be done through Preferences->Tools and it is the ability to select one or more files and copy them to a different location "Copy File(s)..."

Additionally, in Log view, it is not possible to add Preferences -> Tools entries.

Upon the selection of a user tool (Edit/View/Copy File To...), SmartGit would copy the file(s) from the Git repository to a temporary location (unless Copy File To... is selected) and execute the user command.

Actually, this is already in our issue tracker (SG-7617 and SG-9945); I've added a new topic here:
