I use "24.1 RC 4 #21118, installed: #21099". My repo is a fork of my organisation repo and I want to add other forks. For all (GitHub) URLs only the last part is used as remote name.

I'm not talking about creating a fresh clone. I often need to add forks of my repository as remote.
