Allow to remove this new message: The working tree is in merging-state.
It is taken my precious vertical space. The behavior old of showing the Abort button on the toolbar was very awesome!

I have the same opinion.
I like the change, in-your-face apparent that it is not in ready state, especially when rebasing.
That was our intention. There are less Git-experiences users who now easier should notice the state in which the repository is right now. Other Git clients also have something similar, so it seems not completely stupid.
But can some low-level property be added to restore the old behavior?
No, because this would mean to re-add and continue to maintain the old behavior.
