Repository | Search Repositories: don't automatically search whole file system

Seb D 4 years ago updated 4 years ago 4

When you open "Repository => Search for Repositories", you can't search to a specific directory while the default search has not completed.

But it appears the default directory for the initial search is the drive where is located my current repositories already added to smartgit. So this default search takes a very long time because it searches the whole drive.

It would be nice to not run a default search at all when the user opens "Repository => Search for Repositories"

The reason why it starts searching automatically is that you might have used a script to check out a project's dozens of repositories. Are you using a system with hard disk or SSD? For my machine (with SSD) the default search only takes ~2s.

I have no SSD, but 2 HDD (1Tb + 2Tb). I don't know if the default search runs on the whole HDDs, but this default search takes at least 2min20s the first time I open Smartgit and use "Search for Repositories". Apparently after this first default search, I can leave and relaunch Smartgit and then the default "Search for Repositories" takes only a few seconds, until I reboot the workstation.

Well, it's not a big deal, but I wanted to let you know about it.

Please update to the latest intermediate build 15157 and set the low-level property repositorySearch.autoSearchInDialog to false.

Thanks a lot, this works!
