Minimize to system tray

prixone 6 years ago updated by Mike 6 years ago 7

Added the ability to minimize to system tray.

I would love if it would be possible to make so when minimizing, it goes to the system tray(as perhaps an option in the preferences) instead of taskbar, to free some space from it and in cases when you don't need it but wants to leave it running which I do in many occasions.

Thanks

GOOD, I'M SATISFIED

WOW I feel silly now, how did I miss that! Thanks for pointing out!

You already can do that by closing the window. There is an option in the SmartGit preferences to "nest in the system tray".

I didn't know what "Nest" meant ("Minimize" is my familiarity), perhaps that's why!?

We've did not name it "minimize", because in my opinion "minimize" means to show the tray icon only after the (last) window has been minimized. SmartGit, instead always shows a tray icon when running. Any better understandable alternatives to "nest in system tray" are welcome - "Show tray icon"?

Good point, agreed.

> alternatives to "nest in system tray"

The word "nest" confused me until I tried it.  Yes, I like "Show system tray icon".  It doesn't say "what for/features", but it lets me know it will display an icon in the tray and I can see what its features are.

Is that option available on all OSs? I'm not seeing it. (running linux w/ KDE)

Is there no low-level property "ui.systemtray.enabled" available on SmartGit 18.1 on Linux?

It's there and it works, thanks, I didn't realize it was behind that door :-)
