SmartGit 18.2 preview provides support for nested groups.
Build 18.2 preview #13110 should support it.
In the latest 18.2 preview build SmartGit tries to find a group where sibling directories already are stored. If none is found, the selected repository/group is used.
That's how I implemented it now for the next 18.2 preview build.
You could move a group onto a repository that is not located in a group.
The Ctrl+Backspace was treated as a accelerator for the Edit | Clear Output command. I've fixed this for 18.2 preview 5 and you could remove the accelerator from this command as temporary work-around.
SmartGit 18.2 contains a command to set the repository depth.
Is this a duplicate of https://smartgit.userecho.com/communities/1/topics/770-?
I don't think this would be good, because people then will complain that they will not see the actual changes of the files. Hence, if we implement it, I'm sure, we will implement it as part of the cherry-pick command.

Hi Scott, I'm unsure how this could help SmartGit. We already are using a file watcher since ages, but SmartGit does not simply invoke "git status".
